Awards Show-Worthy Makeup Tricks!
Whether you are one of the many who watched the 2013 Grammy Awards, or you are one of the many who don’t even know the difference between an Oscar and a MoonMan, you can still learn a few things and get a LOT of inspiration from the gorgeous looks celebs rocked on the red carpet!
Here is a breakdown of a few of my favorite looks that you can rock every day!

1. Get Glowing Skin like J-Lo
Don’t we all wish we could wake up with our skin looking as clear and bright as this? Well even J-Lo fakes it! Glowing skin comes from within, so start keeping your skin healthy, and enhance that natural beauty!
How? Create your own customized tinted moisturizer by mixing face cream with your foundation! By doing it yourself, you’ll never be left with not enough, or too much, coverage - and you wont have to buy new products. Create sheer, barely there TM by adding just a tiny amount of foundation to a pump of moisturizer, or just get a little bit of glow where you want it by going two parts foundation to one part moisturizer. Experimentation is key to find what mixture works for you!

2. Get Bold, Beautiful Brows like Beyonce
Even though Queen Bey’s entire look was stunning, to me, her perfectly manicured, strong yet natural eyebrows, were what stood out. Her brows compliment her face, and bring dimension and drama to the look.
How? You don’t have to spend 20 minutes filling your brows in completely to get this stunning look. The key is to maintain a natural, full shape, and accentuate it. Use a spoolie or brow brush to sweep all of your brow hairs upwards and outwards (if you haven’t shaped yours recently, use brow scissors to trim any extra-long hairs and a straight line by going along the top line of your brow). Use a small angled eyeliner brush and an eyeshadow a shade lighter than your brow hair to fill in any openly sparse areas, and then use a clear mascara or tinted brow gel to keep every hair in place and get a perfectly natural look!

3. Create a Natural Contour like Adele
Put the heavy, orange bronzer down - for this look, choose a blush instead! Blush creates a natural flushed look and still creates a defined face shape without looking too fake or overdone. You can certainly go bold, but for this, a light, natural, true-to-your-skin color is ideal.
How? Pick a blush color that mimicks the natural color of your cheeks after you’ve been out in the cold or have worked up a sweat. For light skinned lovelies, this could be an almost-skin-toned peach shade, and for dark skinned divas, you might find that a terracotta shade works well. Use an angled blush brush to sweep this lightly on the bottom side of your cheek bone (suck in your cheeks to find it). Apply lightly at first, and then deepen the color as you wish.

4. Go Dark and Vampy like Kat
Haven’t you heard that purple lips are in? Anything dark and saturated on the lips looks eye catching and trendy, without trying too hard. Personally I plan on wearing out this trend even through summer - why not! This look is daring, but certainly not overpowering, because the trick is to keep it simple.
How? Start from the lips and go up! Find a luscious, well-pigmented shade (some of my favorites include Wet n Wild MegaLast in Sugarplum Fairy and Maybelline Vivids in Hot Plum) Because you’re going dark, you might want to line your lips first (with a nude color or matching shade) to keep your lipstick in place. From there, keep it simple and fresh with glowing skin, and thick liner with a little flick.

5. Smoke It Out like Carrie
When the mood strikes, you can’t ignore the need for a fabulous smokey eye. A smouldering look doesn’t necessarily have to be overpowering or limited to formal events, and with a few simple tips you can achieve a fool-proof eye-popping look.
How? Determine the shades you use by the occasion… lighter browns and greys work for day, but you can darken everything for night. To get Carrie’s look, apply a dark cream base to your eye first, and blend it with your finger. This will help prevent fading throughout the time you wear it. Apply shadow over top of the base up to where the crease begins (don’t go over), and then use a fluffy blending brush to soften any harsh lines and create the smoked look up into your socket. Don’t forget to bring a little bit of shadow below the eye too - that’s what brings the whole look together!

6. Make It Matte like Rihanna
And my winner for overall best look is… Rihanna obviously! She looked outrageously beautiful and matched her lips to her dress perfectly. Her overall look was shine free yet natural - “matte-not-flat” as I like to say.
How? Start off with an oil-controlling primer to help keep your face de-greased, day or night. This will also help your makeup last longer! Work foundation into the skin to create a flawless finish, and then set with a light dusting of powder. On the eyes, keep it mostly nude with just a light brown blended through the crease, and liner to rim your eyes. To create a gorgeous matte lip, apply your lipstick, then blot lightly with a tissue to remove excess. With your finger, apply a tiny bit of translucent powder over top, and then layer your lipstick again, repeating the same blot-and-powder process. Voila! Long-lasting matte lips.
Remember to walk through life like each day is your own red carpet!
