unspicylatino asked: Which foundation would you say is heavier? Revlon ColorStay or Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous?

Ooh, that’s a really hard question!  They’re honestly so very similar, it’s difficult to say which one would be heavier.  It also depends on what you mean by heavier… if you mean thicker-feeling on the skin, I might lean towards the Covergirl foundation.  If you mean fuller coverage, I’d say Revlon.  But the differences are so small!

image

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation - $10

This foundation has medium to full coverage, and a longwearing matte finish.  It’s called “3-in-1” because it is a foundation, sunscreen, and supposedly a primer as well, which would eliminate the need for using multiple products.  I think the “primer” aspect of the foundation is what makes it feel just a touch thicker on the skin, although I don’t necessarily see any primer benefit (to get the real benefits of a primer, use an actual primer as a layer before your makeup please!)

image

Revlon Colorstay Makeup (for Normal/Dry Skin or Combo/Oily Skin) - $10

This has been my Holy Grail drugstore foundation for years, although it has been getting some decent competition lately.  It also has medium to full coverage that is very longwearing.  It dries quickly, particularly the formulation for Combo/Oily skin, so you need to apply it quickly as well before it sets.  In a wear test I found this to last longer on my skin than the Covergirl or Maybelline longwear foundations, although not by much.  I like that there are two formulations, but I think that the Combo/Oily skin version is a bit better.

Hopefully this helped!  Haha :)

no-interrvption asked: hi! recently i've been on the hunt for a good champagne colored eyeshadow and cranberry one. any suggestions? preferably drugstore or cheap ones? thanks!

Hello!  Well the champagne eyeshadow will be easy, there are lots of really pretty and affordable ones.

image

Covergirl Eye Enhancer in “Champagne” - $4

image

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow “Iced Latte” - $5 (Stila “Kitten” dupe)

Also check out NYX Single Eyeshadow in “Blondie” and Maybelline Expert Wear Single Eyeshadow in “Champagne Fizz”

As for the cranberry color, it gets a little more tricky to find one, especially at the drugstore level.  I love that shade on the eyes.. it’s very fall appropriate and enhances every eye color.  There are a couple affordable ones to choose from, and I also recommend trying out blush on the eyes.  Some blushes look really gorgeous on the eyes, because many have pretty golden shimmer to them.

image

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow “Glistening Garnet” - $5

image

NYX Eyeshadow “Rust” - $5

Also try ELF Baked Eyeshadow “Burnt Plum” and Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush in “Berry Shimmer”.

Hope that helps!  :)

rellestiria asked: What are some great lipsticks/lip colors for fall?

Fall is the perfect time of year to start experimenting with new colors… you can still get away with wearing summery shades, but it’s also appropriate to edge into the vampier side of lip color!  Here’s a few of my top picks for this season:

Starting from the left column, going down, to the right column, going down (lightest to darkest ;])

  • Covergirl Lip Perfection “Sultry” - $6 - Mauve/brown/nude, creamy, opaque
  • Covergirl Lip Perfection Gloss Stick “Mauve Twist” - $8 - Sheer pinky nude gloss finish
  • L’Oreal Colour Riche “Saucy Mauve” - $7 - Medium, neutral pink, opaque cream finish
  • Milani Color Statement “Fruit Punch” - $6 - Bright medium pink, very opaque, slightly creamy
  • Revlon Matte “Strawberry Suede”- $5 - Soft coral, matte, opaque finish
  • Wet n Wild MegaLast “Coral-ine” - $2 - Bright orange toned red, very opaque, satin matte finish
  • NYX Round Lipstick “Eros” - $4 - Bold neutral red, creamy opaque finish
  • Rimmel Lasting Finish “#107” - $4 - Vampy, deep red, matte & opaque
  • Maybelline Vivids “Hot Plum” - $5 - Bright magenta, very creamy and opaque
  • Maybelline Color Sensational “Blissful Berry” - $5 - Purpleish red, creamy
  • Wet n Wild MegaLast “Sugar Plum Fairy” - $2 - Dark violet shade with pink undertones (MAC Rebel dupe), very opaque and matte
  • Revlon Superlustrous “Black Cherry” - $5 - Vampy oxblood color, creamy

Hope that helps you!  I think I covered all the bases ;)

defineeyourlegacy asked: Can you please recommend a high end lilac lipstick and an inexpensive one ? Love your blog soo much!

Aw thank you!! <3  I can certainly recommend some for you!

First, I’ll go for high end.  Usually when you go into these more luxury or even the cult makeup brands, you’ll find the “crazier” colors, like a true lilac, mint green, orange, etc.  So these will be the most LILAC of the lilac lipsticks, if you catch my drift.

image

Lime Crime “D’Lilac” - $16 - If this is too pale of a lilac, try “Airborne Unicorn”, which is warmer and more purple.

image

MAC “Lavender Whip” - $15

And now for affordable options:

image

Revlon Superlustrous “Berry Haute” - $6

image

Covergirl Lip Perfection “Divine” - $6

image

NYX Round Lipstick “Castle” - $4

All of these lipsticks are different tones, so I’d look up swatches to see what you like best, or what fits your definition of “lilac”.  Hope this helped!

macherieinstagram asked: Know of any good dupes for MAC's Embrace Me? :)

image

MAC Embrace Me (limited edition) - $14 [photo]

I don’t actually have Embrace Me, but it looks very similar in color to:

image

Wet n Wild MegaLast “Don’t Blink Pink” - $2 (matte)

image

Covergirl Lip Perfection “Spellbound” - $6 (not matte)

Sorry I couldn’t give you any exacts!  I wish that I’d gotten my hands on Embrace Me, I was too focused on trying to get Heroine and I missed out!  :(

reefviewsbykaity asked: I know I'm never going to catch you probably because of all your questions you get, but I still keep trying because I hope one day you'll get my questions. So I just recently started using lipstick. I'm pretty new to makeup in general but I found CoverGirl's Lip Perfection in Enchantress and fell in love. I was wondering what other lipsticks you would recommend. I really like those bright pinks and love how moisturized it made my lip while I was wearing it.

Hi hon!  Today is your day, haha!

image

Covergirl Lip Perfection lipstick in Enchantress - $7

I love CG Lip Perfection lipsticks… they are creamy and moisturizing and still pack a punch of color!  Enchantress is a really gorgeous blue-toned pink that would compliment any skin tone.  If you like that color and consistency, then you would probably like these (not the same colors, of course, but similar that would probably look good on you):

image

Maybelline ColorSensational in Party Pink

image

Maybelline Color Whisper in Petal Rebel

image

Maybelline Color Whisper in Pinup Peach

image

Revlon SuperLustrous in Wink for Pink

image

Rimmel Moisture Renew in Pink Chic

image

Milani Color Statement in Fruit Punch

And even if you don’t like those colors necessarily, you will certainly like those brands/lines of lipstick, because they are all creamy and very similar to the Covergirl ones.  :)

BEST DRUGSTORE FOUNDATIONS - by DrugstorePrincess

I’ve created this list of mini reviews for you keeping in mind every skin type and specific need.  These foundations are liquid or cream, and include only options from the major drugstore brands.  Yes, it is a lengthy list (in no particular order, mind you) and different foundations will work better for different people.  I’ve tried to list all of the pros, color ranges, and other details, as well as any notable cons for your consideration.  Hopefully this list will be helpful!  Enjoy!

kelleiwhat-deactivated20140130 asked: So, I definitely just created a tumblr account, specifically because I LOVE your blog and wanted to ask you a question :). Have you ever found and good dupes for Golden Tigers Eye, smudge proof eyeliner by Tarte?

Haha oh my goodness, thank you!  Prepare yourself to be addicted to Tumblr! ;)

I don’t think I’ve ever tried or swatched the eyeliner you’re talking about, but I looked it up and it seems to be a coppery-bronzey pencil?  So although I don’t know if I’m giving you exact dupes, I can give you a few close replicas - at any rate, a close match will probably suffice over a $19 Tarte Eyeliner, haha!

image

Tarte Skinny SmoulderEyes Pencil in Golden Tigers Eye - $19

image

NYX Slide On pencil in Golden Bronze - $8

image

Rimmel London ScandalEyes Kohl Kajal Pencil in Bronze - $4

image

Covergirl Queen Collection Vivid Impact pencil in Truffle - $7

image

NYX Retractable Eyeliner in Bronze - $4.50

image

Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Shimmer Stick in Copper - $2

Hopefully you can look into a few of these and find something that will work great for you!  Happy to help :)

doyouplaybasketball asked: ever bronzer I've every tried using is too orange (I'm very pale), do you have any suggestions?

If you’re really struggling, try using a blush instead of a bronzer - it can look much more natural.

For the traditional contoured look, try a neutral, cool-toned color, like NYX blush in Taupe:

image

or L’Oreal True Match blush in Rosy Outlook:

image

Otherwise, stick to a natural rosy pink, and apply it very lightly just under your cheekbones.  It will still sculpt your cheeks, but make you look flushed instead of oompa-loompa’d.

Try:

image

Covergirl Cheekers in True Plum or Rose

image

Rimmel Lasting Finish in Pink Rose

image

Benefit Hervana Blush

Pet Peeve:

Whenever (mostly) anyone talks about Covergirl LipPerfection Lipsticks, they always repeat the name incorrectly.  There are two lines; the top is the name of the lippie in English, and the bottom is the name of it in Spanish.

So for instance, people will call CG “Tempt”,  ”Tempt Seduction”.  No no.

Don’t mind me, just ranting.

jumpingjellyfishies asked: I have really short, really blonde eyelashes and a budget. :/ can you help with that?

Hello!  Don’t worry, that’s what we have mascara for :)

You’ll need a mascara with a thick, pigmented formula.  Since your lashes are short, try to get a mascara with a brush that’s rather thin. Here’s a few to try that aren’t expensive:

Maybelline The Falsies Mascara - $6

L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black - $7

Maybelline Full n Soft - $7

Covergirl LashBlast Length - $7

itsmespikespiegel asked: what is the best kind of red lipstick for people with pale skin? i see some sites say use red lipstick with coral undertones, and some say blue undertones.

Both are correct… for the most part.  ”Coral” wouldn’t be an undertone as much as it would be a shade of red… a pink-toned orange.  If you’re into coral, choose one that is as pink as you can, like Revlon Superlustrous CoralBerry lipstick

When looking for a true red lipstick, reds with pink tones or blue undertones will be your friends.  They will flatter the cool tones of your skin.  Lipsticks with blue undertones will also make your teeth look whiter!

Try:

Revlon Matte in In The Red

Revlon Colorburst in True Red

Covergirl LipPerfection in Tempt (To all of the world, this shade is called “Tempt” not “Tempt Seduction”… “Seduction” is the name in Espanol…)

Maybelline ColorSensational in Red Revolution

Maybelline ColorSensational in Red Revival

Wet n Wild MegaLast in Red Velvet

NYX Black Label in Hebe

Lipsticks with blue undertones are flattering on all skin tones, including those with dark skin.

If you have warm undertones to your skin, you may also choose reds that have a yellow undertone to them (think fire-engine red, or orangey-shades).  These will compliment your skin tone as well.

Anonymous asked: Best foundation for dry medium-tone skin? Best product to use for dark spots?

My picks for dry skin:

Revlon Age Defying Spa Makeup - $8

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup - $9

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse - $6

Covergirl NatureLuxe Foundation - $7

If your dark spots are caused by old acne marks, try Neutrogena Rapid Clear Fight & Fade Gel

Otherwise try Garnier Nutrisse Skin Renew Clinical Dark Spot Correcter
