Hey there, great question. Pretty much as a rule (unless I just HAVE to test something out), I only buy a few types of products that are high end. This is just my opinion, of course, but there are some kinds of makeup that I simply don’t feel is worth shelling out the extra cash.
Items I splurge on:
- Liquid Foundation
- Powder Foundation
- Eyeshadows
- Tinted Moisturizers & BB Creams
- Face Primers (occasionally)
- Setting Sprays
Which leaves a big gap for products that, unless under certain circumstances, I don’t think are better quality at the higher end.
- Mascara
- Blush
- Bronzer
- Lip products, especially lip gloss
- Eyeliner
- False Eyelashes
- Eye Primer
- Highlighters
I think that base products that are applied closest to my skin are the most important, and they do increase in quality as you go up the price spectrum (for the most part). Of course I could never say that ALL high end foundations are way better than ALL drugstore foundations, because that’s not true at all! Quality varies from product to product, but always do your homework before purchasing anything, whether it’s expensive or not! :)

Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup - $38 for 1 fluid ounce

I don’t have it yet, although of course I would like to try it just to see how it is!
From what I understand the coverage is supposed to be medium & buildable (although to me it doesn’t look like it has full-coverage potential). There are 18 shades, and the formula is oil-free, and has lots of other goodies including anti-wrinkle properties and plant extracts. Everyone raves about the sleek pump-packaging, which is always a huge plus.
Overall I’d love to give it a go! But perhaps I’ll wait until more people have tried it before I fork out the money ;)
Benefit Box Powders, $28.
Spending $16 on lipgloss just seems ridiculous to me…. but that’s just me.
LORAC Multiplex 3D Eyeshadow Palette
(I adore this palette!)
