| Can you recommend some other matte colors and brands?? I really like the NYX sugar Plum!! Dark or light doesn't matter. |

Hello! Could you perhaps be talking about the Wet n Wild lipstick in “Sugar Plum Fairy”? That’s one of my favorite lipstick colors, and it’s a dupe for MAC Rebel. I’m not sure if you’re asking for similar colors or just more matte lipsticks, so I’ll just give you the latter.

Wet n Wild MegaLast lipsticks - $2 - “Sugarplum Fairy” shown
I personally love Wet n Wild’s MegaLast line because almost all of the lipsticks have a matte finish and they are longlasting compared to most other brands I’ve tried!
Other matte lipstick lines:

NYX Matte Lipstick - $5 - “Shocking Pink” shown
I loooove these matte lipsticks, because they are really light and comfortable on the lips (very similar to MAC), and are very opaque. The colors are great (Shocking Pink is almost like Candy Yum Yum) and they have a sweet berry scent to them, much better than the regular NYX lipstick smell.

Revlon Matte Lipsticks - $6 - “Strawberry Suede” shown
Revlon’s matte lippies are also silky smooth and lightweight. The colors are all wearable, yet varied, and can be built up to be very opaque or sheered out for a casual look. They are unscented and have very high quality packaging.

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Matte - $5 - #107 shown
These are inexpensive yet luxurious matte lipsticks that are seriously opaque and have good staying power. There are lots of great colors, from trendy to natural.
Hope this helps you/was what you were looking for! You can find these lipsticks here and here :)

Urban Decay Naked & Naked 2 Palettes… DUPED!

One of the most frequently asked questions I get on DrugstorePrincess is “What is a good dupe of the Naked palette/Naked 2 palette?” Urban Decay’s Naked line is one of the most versatile and coveted in the cosmetic world. They are each 12-pan palettes of neutral colors - mostly shimmers, with a few matte shades thrown in - and they are popular because you can effortlessly throw together any of the shades and they will all look good with one another! Basically, they are fool-proof palettes, and it doesn’t hurt that the eyeshadows are good quality as well.
But each of the Nakeds cost $50 each… granted, they do come with either a brush or pencil eyeliner and a lipgloss or mini eyeshadow primer, but any way you look at it, these palettes could easily break the bank. So finally I’ll make a post about my favorite “dupe” of these palettes…
The NYX Nude on Nude Palette!

This palette contains 20 eyeshadow colors AND 10 lip colors… all in one! Like the Nakeds, the Nude on Nude palette is filled with gorgeous neutral eyeshadows that are a mix of shimmer and matte finishes. You can pair any one color with any other color and they will match, plus all of these colors compliment every eye color, skin color, hair color, and occasion. The lip colors included slide out from underneath the eyeshadows, and are a perfect mix of bright and muted colors. They have glossy finishes and provide lots of color, and the best part is that they all match the eyeshadows! Each pan of product in the NYX palette is larger than those that come in the Urban Decay palettes… so you get more product for less money. Some of these eyeshadows are a little powdery compared to UD’s, but they are all nicely pigmented and very blendable, making them easy to work with.
The best part? You get twice the product for only $25… that’s half the cost of ONE of the Naked palettes, and you get colors that are dupes from BOTH.
I highly recommend picking up this versatile and quality palette. You can find the Nude on Nude palette in Ulta stores, or online at Ulta.com or NYXcosmetics.com!

| Hi! Do you have any recommendations for some basic cream shadows good for everyday makeup? |
◥ |
|
diandrajean3 |
Hello! Certainly… cream shadows are quick and easy, perfect if you’re on the go all the time. My favorites:

Maybelline Color Tattoo - $6
These are the best multipurpose, longwearing cream shadows you’ll find in the drugstore (or on the high end, even!) Not only do they come in awesome bright shades (like Tenacious Teal, shown above) but lovely neutrals that are suitable for any occasion. They are nicely pigmented and don’t fade or slip off like many cream shadows do. They also work great as eyeshadow bases!

Essence Stay All Day Cream Eyeshadows - $3
These are very affordable and quite gorgeous. Well I was going to write more about these but now I’m thinking they’ve been discontinued… what a shame! If you can still find them at Ulta, Walgreens, etc, do it.

ELF Cream Eyeshadow - $3
These soft, creamy shadows come in 8 different colors and are very blendable. They aren’t as longwearing as the Maybelline CT’s but they pack a lot of color punch and certainly will do the trick. For only a few bucks, you can’t beat it!
Another good idea for you, because you like cream shadows, would be to venture into pencil/stick eyeshadows. They are nice and creamy, easy to apply and blend, but are faster and more convenient (in my opinion of course). One thing I do NOT recommend, however, are the liquid eyeshadows you paint on like you would lipgloss. Those never work out well!

Milani Shadow Eyez 12 Hour Wear pencils - $7

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil - $5

ELF Essential Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick - $1

Rimmel ScandalEyes Eyeshadow Stick - $5
Hope these recommendations will work for you! :)

| What is a good dupe for MAC shroom? I use it daily for a base shadow over Painterly. Thanks much and keep up the awesome work and info :) |

Hi! Thank you :D

MAC Shroom - $15 - Satiny, light champagne/cream color
This color is a really great, multipurpose product, but is very easily duped. Three inexpensive alternatives are:

Wet n Wild Color Icon Trio “Walking On Eggshells” - $3

Bourjois “Beige Rose” - $5

NYX “Aloha” - $5
Hope these work for you :)

| Do you know a good dupe for MACs Russian Red? |
◥ |
|
a-brione |
Yes, I do!

MAC Russian Red - $14.50
True red color with a very neutral undertone (neither obviously blue based nor obviously yellow based). Suits all skin tones, and has a matte finish.

Wet n Wild MegaLast lipstick “Stoplight Red” - $2
Very opaque, smooth texture with a matte finish. Color is almost an exact match

Revlon Matte lipstick “Really Red” - $6
Matte, very similar texture to MAC’s. This color is also very neutral and flatters everyone!

NYX Matte lipstick “Pure Red” - $5
This is a very similar shade of red, with a more inky, natural feeling and highly pigmented texture. It also has a matte finish.

| What is the best eye make-up primer that isn't super expensive? |
◥ |
|
comethoufount |
There are several inexpensive eye primers that have my heart! Even though I don’t have any issues with the more expensive primers, like Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I really just don’t see much of a difference between most of the high end and drugstore versions.
From cheapest to not-as-cheap:

ELF Eyelid Primer - $1
Very similar to UDPP, both in consistency, color options, and effectiveness. I use this on a daily basis, for the most part. Buy Here

ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer - $3
Very similar to the basic version, except this one has fewer color options, and claims to contain vitamins and minerals. Buy Here

Essence I <3 Stage Eyeshadow Base - $3
Also similar to UDPP, in a light skintone color. It is slightly opaque, like a base would be, to allow for brighter color payoff. Buy Here

Wet n Wild Fergie Collection Take On The Day Eyeshadow Primer - $4
I find this to be very similar to TFSI, as it has the same squeeze-tube packaging and is slightly more opaque than UDPP. This really locks eyeshadow in place. Buy Here

Milani Eyeshadow Primer - $7
This is a very lightweight totally clear eyeshadow primer with a bit of a silicone slip to it. Has a sort of gel-like texture but is undetectable when blended onto the skin. Buy Here

NYX HD Eyeshadow Base - $7
This is my most recent buy. I find it to be much like UDPP except that it is “High Definition”, which means that it does have a subtle sheen to it, which is supposed to make your eyeshadow really pop. Buy Here

| I really want to get a eyeshadow base, but I don't want to spend $30+ dollars on it. Help? |
◥ |
|
floridabeachbunny |
There are lots of eyeshadow bases at the drugstore! You definitely don’t need to spend that much money on something so simple. [Don’t know what base is? Learn about it here!] Technically you could use any cream eyeshadow as a base. They will all do the same thing - apply color and/or cancel out your current lid color, allow powder eyeshadows to show up more brightly, and make everything much more blendable.
My two favorites:

NYX Eyeshadow Base - $7
Comes in three shades (White, White Pearl, and Skintone) Easy to blend, very crease-resistant, and helps your eyeshadow colors really pop!

Maybelline Color Tattoo - $7
These come in a bunch of different colors and finishes, from bright to neutral, matte to metallic. They are also very crease-resistant and look great alone, or with eyeshadow over top.

| what do you think is the best cream blush? can you give me a drugstore and highend option? |
◥ |
|
lildorkiiex |
Hello! Sure thing! I’ve actually been using cream blush a lot recently, because my skin has dried out considerably. I actually have more drugstore favorites than high end ones, simply because I use these a lot more than the more expensive options I have in my collection.

NYX Rouge Cream Blush - $6
This is probably my favorite, out of all the cream blushes I’ve used, in the terms of value, color, consistency, and wear time. There are 12 shades to choose from, and the texture is very soft- a true cream consistency. You only need a small amount, and it blends effortlessly onto the skin, so it is practically foolproof. You can also layer it on for a more intense color. It lasts for most of the day and doesn’t get patchy or cling to any dry skin you may have. It also doesn’t look too shiny and doesn’t slide off of oily skin.

ELF Studio HD Blush - $3
These blushes I’ve talked about before… they are very vivid, highly pigmented liquid blushes in really convenient packaging. One pump is more than enough to get a very natural look. The color blends in easily and gives you a real punch of color - plus they are very affordable! There are five shades available.

Revlon Photoready Cream Blush - $11
I would say that even though this is an expensive item, for being “drugstore”, anyway, it is very good quality and is sure to please. It has the same, true creamy consistency as NYX Rouge, and the colors are bright and vibrant as the ELF HD blushes are. They provide a really subtle sheen that highlights your cheeks as well as adds color. The wear time is good as well, and they last about five hours before they begin to fade (on me, anyway.) However, there are only three shades.

MAC Cremeblend Blush - $21
This blush is very creamy and has really even, smooth color. It blends very easily onto the skin and is neither too sheer nor too vivid. It is very similar to the NYX option I mentioned, but the colors are more “natural” and not as bright.

Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Cream Blush - $26
Hey look, how similar to the ELF version, right? They have the same, convenient pump packaging. These blushes are very easily blended into the skin, and can be made sheer or layered to be very bright. The colors themselves are bright and very pigmented, but have a gel-like consistency that make them wearable and easy to use.
Hope this gives you a few options! :)

| Hey, I was wondering if you have any recommendations for eyeliner that's good for the waterline. I've tried a few and I can't find any that work all that well. |
◥ |
|
xxboredangelxx |
Hello! When looking for a liner for your waterline, you need something that is very pigmented and opaque, and smooth to apply. Generally people like to use pencils, although I personally prefer gel eyeliner. Here are a few pencils that have passed my test:

Milani Liquif’Eye Metallic Eyeliner Pencils - $6

L’Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil - $9

NYX Slide On Pencils - $8
Urban Decay 24/7 Pencils - $19
However, gel eyeliner is my favorite method because it lasts much longer in my opinion. They’re also very smooth and easy to apply, so you don’t have to layer product on to get a dark, opaque line.
Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner - $7
